Canoe approaches an island camp site on Lower Saranac Lake

Saranac Lake Islands Campground is a popular state campground close to the town of Saranac Lake.  It has 87 camp sites located on Lower Saranac Lake and Middle Saranac Lake.  All sites are boat access only and have a fireplace, picnic table and an outhouse. There are two state boat launches on Lower Saranac Lake and one for Middle Saranac Lake.  Sites must be booked in advance when the campground is open (May - September).  Use our Site Finder to view details of every site!

ESSENTIAL INFO

  • Boats cannot be rented at the campground

  • This is a popular campground.  Reservations are required May - September.  Book early.  Online booking can be done up to 9 months in advance.

  • Check-in for all camp sites is located at Second Pond State Boat Launch.

  • Some sites will periodically not be available due to site restoration

  • Sites 65 and 71 are for groups only and can only be booked via a NY State Ranger (link below)

  • 6 people and 2 tents per site maximum

  • Dogs are allowed but must be kept leashed

  • Motorized craft are permitted on these lakes

  • You can travel between the lakes via the Saranac River (through the Upper Locks)​​​
