rentals
Can I book online? Online booking is available for the rental of Canoes, Kayaks and SUP's. Vacation rental deliveries can also be booked online. For everything else please call or email. Note that there are some limitations that apply to online booking in order to avoid potential problems or conflicts:
There is a 48 hour cutoff window for booking boat/SUP rental online. For vacation rental deliveries there is a 7 day cutoff. Please call or email to make bookings if you are too close to the date to book online.
Only 1 boat or 2 SUP's can be transported on a vehicle unless you have a rack suitable for more
How can I transport boats/boards that I rent? There are 3 options for getting rental boats/boards to the water:
We can carry boats/boards right across the street and put them into Lake Flower
You can transport on your vehicle (we provide tie down equipment and show you how. One boat/board per car unless you have a rack suitable for more)
We can transport for you. Shuttle fees vary depending on distance.
Can I rent boats/boards by the hour? All our boat/board rentals are per calendar day. However, our rates are still very competitive in the area.
Can I rent boats/boards for multiple days? Yes and there is a 10% discount for 5+ days or 5+ boats/boards.
What is included in the rental price? Rental life vests, paddles and tie down equipment (if needed) are all included in the rental price. We also loan you a waterproof map if you are doing one of our self-guided trips.
Do you deliver to vacation rental properties? Yes, we can drop off boats, boards and any other rental equipment you need and collect it all when you are done.
We are new to paddling. How do we get started? The quickest. and easiest option for getting on the water is to paddle out onto Lake Flower from our store. Our rental boats and boards are user friendly and we'll give you some tips and a map to help get you started. Lower Saranac Lake is also another popular destination nearby once you are ready for a little more adventure. You could also book a guided trip and have one of our experienced guides introduce you to the awesome world of paddling!
TRIPS
Should I choose a guided or self-guided trip? Our self guided trips make it easy to explore some of the beautiful local paddling destinations. We provide the equipment you need, transport and a map and will help you select a suitable itinerary. With some basic paddling skills and a little sense of adventure you should have a great time navigating your self-guided trip going at your own pace. Alternatively, if you would prefer the reassurance of having a guide with you we can arrange for one of our friendly and experienced guides to accompany you. We offer an Instruc-tour option (Lower Saranac Lake only) where a guide will provide some basic instruction and join you for the initial part of your trip. Once you are comfortable you will then continue on and complete the rest of the trip on your own. Alternatively, you can request a guide to be with you throughout the entire trip. See our guided trip page for further details. Your guide will be able to provide additional information about the area and advice on paddling techniques as part of the trip too.
What transport options are available? If you are not going to be transporting boats/boards yourself then there are a number of possibilities, depending on your trip. For day trips, we typically have you come to our store and then follow us out to your paddling destination. This way your car is where you need it when you are done. If your destination is somewhere other than the starting point for your trip then we can head to the destination first to drop your car and then take you to the starting location in our shuttle (additional charges may apply). For multi-day trips we can drop you where you need to be and arrange a date, time and location to meet you once your trip is done.
How far do you travel? We typically do not travel more than an hour from our store location (~50 miles). Our transport charges are based on distance so it often becomes more logical to choose a closer outfitter for your needs beyond this.
How many boats/boards can you transport? Our main transport shuttle can carry 10 canoes or 16 kayaks in one trip. If we need to transport more than this we can use our secondary trailer and make multiple trips if needed.
